About the project

Influence of AI-Enhanced mHealth Tools on Work-Induced Stress Among Tech Workers in Nigeria is an ongoing public health research study examining how the use of AI-enabled mobile health tools, including smartwatches and health applications, relates to stress, burnout and work engagement among Nigerian technology professionals.

The study is being conducted by Oluwatobi Emmanuel Amonimo in the Department of Health Policy and Management, at the College of Medicine, University of Ibadan. It compares tech workers who currently use AI-enhanced mHealth tools with those who do not, while also exploring workplace stressors, prolonged sitting, health-monitoring practices and barriers to adopting these technologies.

Participants are being recruited across Lagos State, Oyo State, and Abuja, with data collected through a structured survey designed to examine perceived stress, burnout, work engagement and digital health use. The research aims to generate locally relevant evidence that can inform workplace wellbeing programmes, occupational health strategies and the responsible use of digital health technologies in Nigeria’s technology sector.

The project aligns with LifeDev’s interest in digital health, responsible AI, health informatics and evidence-informed public health. LifeDev supports the dissemination and knowledge translation of the research, helping connect its findings with wider conversations around technology, workplace health and digital health adoption.
